The Extra Hand
First, let me start by saying that I am in no way related nor do I know the creator of this magnificent product but as Justin said 2 days ago.. if we did, "We would kiss him!!" One of our challenges as twin parents is the feeding schedule. Prior to my a little meltdown I had (that required Dee Dee to come to Texas to my rescue) we were both getting up every night. We were on staggered schedules feeding one baby and then starting the next so that when I was by myself during the day I could feed. Well they eat every 3 hours so by the time I finished both I only had maybe 45 minutes until the next feeding. I also had to make formula, wash bottles, try to take a bath.. you get the picture. Back to my meltdown, to help me out, Justin volunteered to get up by himself all night one night so that I could sleep. The next morning I come into the nursery to find an interesting situation. The boppy pillows were in their cribs and hanging from the mobile was a ribbon (which I later found out came from the wreath on the nursery door that he dismantled at 2:00am) and rubber band with another ribbon. I can't believe I didn't get a picture! How I wish I had a nanny cam.
This reminded me that I saw a product online recommended by some multiple parents called the Extra Hand. I told Justin about it and voila! 3 days later the Extra Hand (x 2) arrived on our door step. Now, there are many members of our family who do not think this is as fabulous as we do. As they would love to leisurely hold the boys, stroking their heads, and giving them a bottle. Great! But that does not work when you are outnumbered. This way we can feed and alternate at night and when we are here by ourselves. I have the system down. At night I am 30 minutes start to finish. Heat the bottles, change the babies, on
the boppies they go, arms come down, bottles in the mouth. Then we stand by for burping, giving them breaks, and wiping chins. Eli sits upright in his boppy for his reflux for about 5 minutes while I get Beckett all burped then both boys go back down, arms go up, blankets on and lights out. It rocks!
